The Geospatial Analyst I (GA-I) works under the direction of the Project Manager or Team Leader in a team environment to create products using multiple vector and raster data sources in multiple formats. The GA-I understands graphic feature and tabular data relationships, data topology, and network connectivity. The GA-I creates, edits, and analyzes geospatial data using multiple technologies. The GA-I creates map and engineering products using standard cartographic techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities included, but not limited to:

  • Digitize data from various sources including satellite imagery, aerial photography, hardcopy, and CADD.
  • Work with coordinate projections with imagery, CADD, and GIS data.
  • Prepare GPS data collection plans, data dictionaries, and equipment calibration.
  • GPS field survey and data capture.
  • Maintain geospatial databases, including schemas and standards.
  • Identify and acquire data from various sources including clearing houses, USGS, FEMA, etc.
  • Work under the direct supervision of senior personnel in a team environment.
  • Create quality cartographic products, maintaining cartographic templates.
  • Provide detailed written documentation including metadata and other instructions, standards and specifications in a clear, concise and well-structured manner.
  • Participate in professional GIS associations and activities.

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Cartography, Planning, Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field
  • AND a minimum of one (1) year experience.

Required Skills

  • Ability to organize and maintain geospatial data.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to produce deliverables and solve problems.
  • Advance computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in ESRI client software ArcPro,
  • Basic knowledge of coordinate projections and datums.
  • Basic knowledge of GPS.
  • Basic knowledge of projections for raster and vector data formats.
  • Detail Oriented.
  • Preferred skill: basic knowledge of ESRI Enterprise suite of products: ArcGIS Server/Portal/ SDE, as well as ArcGIS Online.

Other Requirements

  • US Citizenship Required
  • Active clearance, or the ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance, up to a Full Scope Polygraph and background investigation.
  • Travel may be required.
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job; the individual must be able to perform field GPS surveys in uneven terrain, wooded areas, and harsh weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and sit. Close vision is required.
